The new exhibition of Aicha Zarrouk: " Knock Knock ... who is there? "

After studying communications in London, it is quite naturally to painting that Aicha turns.

From her career, she keeps without doubt the taste of the impact of the image in the communication.

Her work is inspired by themes and techniques drawn from popular mass culture, such as advertising, television stars and social cultural objects.

Pop art is widely interpreted as a reaction to the dominant ideas of abstract expressionism, based primarily on photographic work and a keen sense of composition.

It is however surrounded by orientalist portraits that Aicha grows up, she takes the opposite to play with the different cultures, the traditional or classic dresses are freed and transformed to the liking of her fantasy.

From Basquiat, to Warda through Elvis and Bruce Lee or Farid Latrach, Aicha has fun arranging her characters in funny situations.

Yasser Arafat dressed in a Keffieh Gucci or James Bond in superman. From Salvador Dali, she keeps the mustache to transform it into a humorous phrase.

She adds: "It's not just decorative, I like to put my characters in action. It's a good energy that I want to convey through my works."

She uses a mixed technique of collages, which she works on with software before printing them. Then, Aicha paints them to express a vivid and colorful world while revealing stories. She elaborates her paintings with meticulousness to give them a visually harmonious and coherent dynamic.

One finds images, words, familiar memories transfigured by Aicha's vision.
